In recent times attention to body contouring has increased significantly, although slightly behind the buttocks area has not escaped to this trend.
For different reasons some patients want to improve the shape and size of this area, there are three surgical procedures that Dr Perez will be able to discuss with you in regards to addressing this problem.
Liposuction can be use to sculpt the area of the hips, thighs and buttocks.
Gluteal implants, this option will give you an immediate, consistent result, similar to the obtained in a breast augmentation. The implant material is slightly different. Here the silicon used is solid elastomer, as a consequence there are no chances for leaking of silicon. The implant is slightly firmer but normally the buttock area is firm. Dr Perez technique places the implant in a precisely dissected subfascial space, immediately above the gluteus muscle. You will not be sitting on the implants. The incision is located in the midline crease, completely out of sight. These implants are as safe as any other implant used in the human body.
Autologous fat grafting: advances in the technique of transporting our own fat from a site to another have made possible the augmentation of certain areas of the body with this surgical tool. First, fat will be suctioned from areas were there is excess then, this fat will be processed, eliminating the dead cells and free fat acid, finally this prepared fat will be injected in the areas that need augmentation. Typically, between 300 and 500 cc need to be transfer to each buttock. The average survival of the fat cells is around 60%, as a consequence a second procedure may be needed. The great advantage of this procedure is the associated liposuction that you will get in this surgery; the main disadvantage is that some times the fat cells do not survive as we expected it.
