Smartlipo MPX Liposuction

Traditional liposuction, also known as lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, is a procedure that can remove unwanted fat from specific areas. Through a small incision, a narrow tube (cannula) is inserted and used to vacuum the fat under the skin.

Smartlipo MPX is the latest innovation in laser body sculpting. This laser assisted lipolysis (fat cell destruction) is performed using a tiny (1mm) cannula inserted into the skin. Using two different wavelengths, a laser fiber inside this cannula delivers energy directly to the fat cells, destroying them. Because this direct energy is delivered in the undersurface of the skin, there is an increase in temperature that induces skin contraction (tightening); a significant advantage compared to traditional liposuction.

Smartlipo MPX is the newest device from Cynosure. It delivers twice as much energy as compared with the older Smartlipo machines, and also has some new accessories that make this device safer to use. Dr Perez is bringing the first Smartlipo MPX machine to the Kansas City area. When you put the best device in the market in the hands of a good, experienced, liposculpturing plastic surgeon, you get the best possible results.

Smaller-volume Smartlipo MPX liposuction will be performed in our office under local anesthesia, which numbs only the targeted areas; (sculpturing of the abdomen, arms, neck and chin areas, legs). Larger volume liposuction (traditional) will be performed in an outpatient surgery center, or in a hospital under general anesthesia.

After surgery, you may experience some fluid drainage from the incisions. You will be fitted with a snug elastic garment to wear over the treated area for two to four weeks.

You will see a noticeable difference in the shape of your body soon after the surgery. However, improvement will become even more apparent after about four to six weeks, when most of the swelling has subsided. The final result will be around 6-9 months after surgery.

You will be very pleased with the results of your surgery. You will be more comfortable in a wide variety of clothes and more at ease with your body. By eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise, you can help to maintain your new shape.
