Are you interested in repairing common skin problems on your face, neck and chest? CO2 laser skin resurfacing is an effective, minimally invasive way to do so. The springtime is ideal for this laser therapy. Learn why in the sections below.
Why Now Is A Great Time for CO2 Laser Resurfacing
Truthfully, any time of year is a great time to get laser skin resurfacing, but the cloudy days that linger in the springtime are beneficial in two ways: limited sun exposure before your treatment and after.

In the one to two months leading up to your appointment, avoiding direct and prolonged sun exposure will ensure a beautiful result. If the treatment area is tanned, it is more difficult for the laser to achieve an even, consistent result. Untanned skin yields the best results. Unless you've been vacationing in tropical regions, your skin has likely been protected from sun exposure over the cold winter. If you are getting this treatment soon, be sure to wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat for at least a month before your appointment.
After laser skin resurfacing, continue to protect the treatment area from direct and prolonged sun exposure. Sometimes it is easier to do so in the spring, when we get rainy, cloudy days. Once sunny, warm summer days roll around, your skin will be adequately healed and you can be a little less cautious about leaving the house without your hat or sunblock – that being said, continue to protect your skin as a lifelong habit. It will preserve your results, prevent wrinkles and prevent skin cancer.
What Does CO2 Resurfacing Do?
Problems treated with laser skin resurfacing include:
- Sun damage

Why Choose Renue Aesthetic Surgery?
Our laser has a fraction of the downtime of conventional CO2 lasers. It is called the DOT SmartXide Fractionated Laser. Older laser technologies required ablation of a vast area of the surface of the skin, which resulted in a longer recovery. Newer, DOT laser technologies create tiny perforations across the surface of the skin in a dotted pattern. It successfully treats problem areas without affecting surrounding tissue. The treatment itself takes less time and has a rapid recovery.
