It's official: Fall has arrived. The first day of the new season was this past Sunday, September 23. We're already seeing a big difference across our region of Kansas this week, with highs in the mid-60s and rain in the extended forecast. Not quite ready to embrace the chill? Not so excited about the dry, scaly skin ahead? We totally get it. But with CO2 laser skin resurfacing, you can put your best face forward by renewing your skin. To learn more, please call Renue Aesthetic Surgery in Overland Park at 913-685-1108.

Why the Fall is a Great Time for Laser Skin Resurfacing

Woman in Overland Park in autumn after laser skin resurfacingThe autumn is the perfect time to get laser skin resurfacing. Consider the benefits:

  • Treat your skin after the long summer. The summer is wonderful, but it's also hard on your skin. The direct overhead orientation of the sun during this time means the UV rays are more intense. Plus, you're likely to spend more time outdoors and be wearing less clothing to protect your skin during the summer. The result may be dull, dehydrated and sun damaged skin. Restore more youthful skin with laser skin resurfacing.
  • Target sun damage. Brown spots, laxity and dullness – these can all be caused by UV radiation and the CO2 laser targets these problems specifically (and many others).
  • Get resurfacing as your tan fades. While CO2 resurfacing can be effective on tanned skin, the best results are achieved when performed on un-tanned skin.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for a little while. You must avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for at least several weeks. During this time, your healing skin will be particularly vulnerable to sun damage, including sunburn and hyperpigmentation. The fall, with cloudier days and less direct sun, is a good time to recover. But even though it's fall, you still should wear sunscreen and a wide-brim hat to block out UV.

At Renue Aesthetic Surgery, we are personally driven by obtaining beautiful, natural, lasting results for our patients. Rely on us for complete information related to your candidacy, skin treatment and recovery.

What Does the Laser Do?

Laser skin resurfacing ablates (by vaporization) the outer layer of dead, dull and damaged skin cells, revealing the fresher skin beneath. The laser also prompts the treated tissue to produce new collagen and elastin, which creates firmer, smoother skin.

Our CO2 laser targets many skin conditions, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Brown spots
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Rough texture

The only way to know if it's right for you is to visit our practice. Our modern CO2 laser device treats not only the face, but the neck, hands and chest as well.
